There are many words in the English language that are easily confused because they have a similar spelling or a related, but different, meaning. Here are some examples and sentences to better understand them:

  1. Dessert - We had an apple pie for dessert.

  2. Desert - They were lost in the desert for 6 days.



  1. Diary - I have been writing in my diary since I was 10 years old.

  2. Dairy- Do you know any locals who sells diary products?



  1. Stationery - You said you need to buy pens and pencils for your kid. Don' worry there is a stationery shop right around the corner.

  2. Stationary - My neighbour's car collided with a stationary vehicle, but fortunately nobody was hurt.

  2. Historical - I have been doing some historical research on Alexander the Great.




  1. Bough - I left my jacket on an apple bough as I laid down to take a nap.
